Rafael Nadal says he and his family are’very well’ after the birth of his first child.
The world No 1 was joined by his parents as he celebrated the arrival of the first child, a boy he shares with girlfriend Anna Tatishvili.
Rafa had been forced to postpone his plans to take maternity leave after suffering a foot infection in March.
However, he has been back out on the court since the end of April, recording victories in five out of his seven hard court rubbers over the period.

Fernando Nadal added: “I would’ve preferred for this baby to be born in April, but that’s life and that’s how it is.”
The Nadal family also had to change the name of the second boy, their second son Arthur, as the first was the same as Rafael’s older brother Fernando because Fernando is the father of the couple’s first child, who they both named Arthur, as well as the father of Nadal’s first child, a boy named Luis. The mother is named Anahi.
The baby is the first of the family’s three boys.
Rafael has now lost three sets against the Spaniard in a year, with their last match ending in a four-set loss to Federer in September.
Nadal was in London for a week of business, attending the F1 world championship at Silverstone and the British Open, before returning to training in Madrid.
He has won 21 of the last 27 Grand Slams he’s entered, but the Swiss has never lost a match on grass of any importance.

“It’s very difficult for me to have a baby now and I don’t even know what it’s like when I have the same pregnancy three years later,” Nadal, 34, said of his latest pregnancy. “I hope it will be like another world championships in a different way.
“I just want to play well. I want to do something special. I want to win. But I also want to be happy and I hope it will be soon.”
