The DC Universe has been through a lot. But it has some good news for its fans: Two of its most popular superheroes are getting new, powerful friends who will help them take on the world’s most deadly villains.

The heroes of the new DC Universe comic book series Doom Patrol will get two new friends in the shape of teenage super heroes Johnny Quick and the Trickster.

The books will feature the new Doom Patrol team, plus the original Doom Patrol, alongside other members of the Justice League and other DC superheroes.

DC Comics editor-in-chief Jim Lee has announced that the new series, which is already in production and is due to debut next year, will feature the comic book’s first African-American superhero.

Superman fans will get to see Superman’s new loveinterest, Supergirl, alongside Lois Lane and Perry White (Wonder Woman), in the newly formed DC Universe.

And comic book readers will get to meet Batman as well as characters from the Justice League, such as Wonder Woman, Aquaman, The Flash, Green Lantern, Red Hood and many more.

Lee confirmed a new television show called Titans will be part of the DC Universe, though how exactly it will fit into the wider DC mythos is still unclear.

The superhero television project is part of DC’s new “New 52” relaunch of all of its characters.

Marvel Comics boss Steve Rogers has confirmed that the new X-Men have found a new team-up in Jessica Jones on Netflix.

Netflix announced in November that a new female-led series will be coming, saying ‘Jessie’ would be the first Netflix series to have an all-female cast.

In addition to the new team-up, Marvel announced there would be an issue of Ms Marvel (which would not make its debut until 2015) and a series called Ms. Marvel and the Moon Girl.
