Emma Raducanu’s former coach Dmitry Tursunov says he left because of ‘red flags’ about her behaviour
Emma Raducanu’s former coach Dmitry Tursunov says he left her after “red flags” about her behaviour began to rise.
The 39-year-old former model has been the subject of headlines over the last few weeks and has been the target of a smear campaign from some in the modelling community.
The modelling industry has been accused of being unfair towards Raducanu, although it is unlikely such sentiments would be directed at any other individual.
Raducanu is one of the most popular model-turned-actresses in the industry, but her career has been punctuated by controversy, and a modelling career that has never fully recovered from its ill-fated start (she was 19 at the time, and had a number of modelling gigs that she was not able to complete due to legal obstacles).
Raducanu has also been the subject of a number of rumours, which include of alleged child abuse, and allegations that she lied about her age in her social media profiles; which has led to speculation she is not really the real Emma Raducanu.
Here is what we know about the former model, and why she might have been the subject of such media scrutiny.
Why did she decide to pursue modelling?
Emma Raducanu was born in Moldova and was raised in Transnistria, a breakaway region that was part of Moldova.
She graduated from high school at the age of 16, and began modelling as soon as she was 18.
After spending a brief time doing acting (she starred in a short film called The Last Night of an Age in 2010), she moved to the UK to study fashion at the Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design.
She was also a finalist on a TV talent show in 2013.
The scandal
Raducanu was crowned British Female Model of The Year at the 2014 Global Model Awards in London, which led to the press interest in her.
Raducanu has been a subject of a huge amount of controversy during her modelling career, with rumours of alleged misconduct as far back as 2007.
